Our Teachers’ Corner is dedicated to Canadian Parents for French activities that are available for French second-language teachers (Core French and Immersion)  to share with their class! Some events are virtual while others are in person.

Be sure to check this page regularly so as not to miss registration deadlines for upcoming activities! 

School Activities 2024

Do you have a public speaking component in your curriculum? Concours en classe is a great way to introduce your students to presenting confidently in class “en français”. 

Concours en classe will be open for registration from November to January.  Every student participating will receive a Concours d’art oratoire certificate, Concours d’art oratoire participation ribbon, and Concours swag.  Concours en classe kits will be shipped to your school in January-March 2024.  No limit on number of students or number of classrooms registered. Deadline to register is Friday, February 2 2024.

Concours en classe is open to students from grs 1-8. Students grs 5-12 wishing to participate in their RCE regional Concours d’art oratoire must contact their French teacher or French Second-Language consultant for further information.

Concours en classe

Le Concours en classe est un excellent moyen d’initier vos élèves à la présentation en toute confiance en classe.

Le Concours en classe sera ouvert aux inscriptions de novembre à janvier. Chaque élève participant recevra un certificat du Concours d’art oratoire, un ruban de participation au Concours d’art oratoire et un cadeau du Concours. Les kits Concours en classe seront expédiés à votre école en janvier-mars 2024. Aucune limite de nombre d’élèves ni de nombre de classes inscrites. La date limite d’inscription est le vendredi 2 février 2024.

Le Concours en classe est ouvert aux élèves de la 1re à la 8e année. Les étudiants de la 5e à la 12e année souhaitant participer à leur Concours d’art oratoire régional RCE doivent contacter leur professeur de français  pour plus d’informations.

The 40th provincial Concours d’art oratoire will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Mount Saint Vincent University.  

Please contact the French Consultant at your RCE for further information on registering students from your classroom.  Students participating in the provincial Concours d’art oratoire will have competed in their regional and/or classroom Concours d’art oratoire.

Le 40e Concours d’art oratoire provincial a eu lieu samedi le 4 mai 2024  à l’université Mount Saint Vincent

Veuillez contacter le consultant en français de votre RCE pour plus d’informations sur l’inscription des étudiants de votre classe.  Les étudiants participant au Concours d’art oratoire provincial auront participé à leur Concours d’art oratoire régional et/ou en classe.

 

The Bilingual Career Exploration Day (BCED) is one of Canadian Parents for French, Nova Scotia’s most successful events.  CPF Nova Scotia has hosted Career Days in the region of Halifax, Sydney, the Annapolis Valley, Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury.   Since establishing this event in 2006, CPF Nova Scotia has seen over 6,500 students participate. This event is free of charge for students, teachers and chaperones.  Each school is responsible for their own transportation to and from the event

Open to grade 9-12 students in French immersion, IB French  and French first language.  

Our 17th Bilingual Career Exploration Day will take place in February 23, 2024 at Saint Mary’s University.

Le Salon d’exploration d’emplois bilingues (SEEB) de Canadian Parents for French, Nouvelle-Écosse (CPF NÉ) est un événement qui a eu beaucoup de sucées. Ça sera le 17e salon, avec plus de 6,400 étudiants de la Nouvelle-Écosse qui ont déjà participé. Cet événement est gratuit pour les élèves et les enseignants. Le transport à l’événement est la responsabilité de l’école. 

Notre prochaine Salon d’exploration d’emplois bilingues aura lieu le 23 Février 2024 à l’Université Saint Mary.

 

REMI BOUDREAU, MAGICIEN ET ILLUSIONISTE

Remi Boudreau is one of the Canada’s top magical entertainers.  For the past 20 years, he has been sharing his incredible and unique illusions in over 1000 different schools across Canada.

Tour dates: May 13-17 in HRCE, SSRCE and TCRCE.

Cost: $900 + hst per show, discounts available for 2 shows.  French or bilingual performances.  Production requirements are posted on registration form.

INTERACTIONS: Un tout nouveau spectacle de magie que est grandment concentré sur les interactions et les connexions avec le publique.  Il n’y a rien de plus incroyables que de témoigner la magi dans vos propres mains.   Les spectateurs participeront au tours de cartes impossible, aux predictions étonnantes, à l’apparition superbe d’un lapin et autre surprises.  Avec plus de 20 ans d’expérience, Remi promet une aventure inoubliable remplic de comédie, d’inspirations et de mystères.

ITERACTIONS:  A brand new magic show that is highly focused on the interactions and connections built with the audience.  Nothing is more amazing than to experience the magic in your very own hands.   Numerous spectators will take the stage to participate in impossible card magic, visual rope routine, stunning rabbit illusion and many more surprises.  With over 20 years of experience, Remi promises an unforgettable adventure filled with laughter, inspiration and mysteries.

Schools and Educators Cultural Grant Application Form 2023-2024

Canadian Parents for French, Nova Scotia offers cultural grants up to $1000 to teachers and schools for French language activities.

What projects qualify?

To qualify for a French cultural grant, an event must promote one of the following:

  • A new or innovative French activity for your classroom or school (ie youth leadership event, etc)
  • An event or performance that highlights French Second-Language or Francophone culture in an educational setting (i.e. travelling performer, workshop,  etc)
  • A special French Second-Language or Francophone cultural event that is open to the school population and/or general public (French cafe night, French movie, etc).

Applications will be reviewed and processed as soon as possible. Please allow time before your event/activity to receive approval. Please complete the outline of your budget for our records. The cultural grant can be applied from September to June of each school year. Multiple requests will be approved depending upon funds available.
