News and Updates for 2024
Congratulations to all our 2023 winners
Félicitations à tous nos lauréats 2023!
" I have always been passionate about public speaking, but more importantly, learning the French language. Knowing the importance of multilingualism, especially in a country like ours with two official languages, I always made it a priority to learn French, so I enrolled in late immersion. What truly inspired me to compete in CPF's Concours d'art oratoire was trying to engage and feel connected with the French that I was learning beyond the classroom. "
The Concours d’art oratoire is Canada’s largest annual French-language public speaking competition. Over 100,000 students across Canada take part in it every year!
Canadian Parents for French has been organizing this event acrosss the country since 1983. Working together with parents and school staff, Canadian Parents for French organizes school, regional and provincial-level competitions.The Concours d’art oratoire allows Canadian Parents for French to sponsor an activity where students from across the province express themselves and are recognized for their talents in French public speaking. For many teachers, it is an opportunity to incorporate public speaking into their curriculum so that all their students benefit from the use of their researching, writing and presentation skills.
The Concours d’art oratoire has proven highly beneficial for students, as this public speaking contest aims to:
- stimulate the interest of students learning French;
- improve their oral skills; and
- give them experience speaking in public
Le Concours d’art oratoire s’est révélé très avantageux pour les élèves, parce qu’il :
mousse leur intérêt pour l’apprentissage du français;
contribue à améliorer leurs habiletés pour la conversation et la prononciation;
leur donne l’occasion de parler français en public;
offre l’occasion de promouvoir une communauté d’apprenants actifs du français;
démontre la pertinence de l’acquisition du français dans le « monde réel ».
The Concours d’art oratoire is open to French second language students (FSL) and Francophone students from grades 5 through 12 who are studying:
- core French, integrated French, intensive French, French immersion (early, middle or late) and IB French;
- French first language (CSAP).
Students who are participating in the provincial Concours d’art oratoire will have competed in their regional Concours d’art oratoire.
