CPF NOVA SCOTIA FRENCH SECOND LANGUAGE CHAMPION OF THE YEAR 2023

Laurie Bolland of the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education recognized for contribution to French Second Language Education

Each year, Canadian Parents for French, Nova Scotia recognizes outstanding commitment and dedication to French Second Language education with its Champion of the Year award.  

This year’s recipient is Laurie Bolland.  Mme Bolland is presently the Coordinator of French and Programs for the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education.  

Mme Bolland is a proud Acadienne from Wedgeport, an Acadian village near Yarmouth.   She graduated with a B. Arts and B.Ed from Acadia University.   Immediately after graduation, Mme Bolland began teaching with the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.  She also has two Masters in Education degrees.

During her teaching career Mme Bolland taught core French grades 3-9, late immersion grades 7-9 and integrated French grades 7-9.   She has been a Vice Principal, French mentor, and French consultant.   

As an educator and coordinator, Mme Bolland engages French immersion students in exciting activities such as the Concours d’art oratoire and Face aux Questions.  She is also a strong supporter of core French, integrated French and integrated French bringing in special events and activities. 

Mme Bolland is also a champion of Canadian Parents for French.   She makes requests each year for Canadian Parents for French swag for activities, circulates notices for French movies and books concerts for AVRCE schools.  

As well as working with the AVRCE, Mme Bolland is a part-time instructor at Acadia University’s School of Education where she teaches French methodology and curriculum.  Mme. Bolland is married to Eric Bolland and has two sons: Marcel and Thomas.
